Floating weightlessly in a space void of light and sound while depriving all the senses is the true definition of relaxation. And, no, you’re not in outer space. You’re in a float tank and you absolutely love it. If you’ve never experienced float therapy, you may be skeptical about the sensory depriving technique. However, float therapy can provide both the mind and body a number of health benefits. What exactly is Float Therapy? The first float tank was created in the 1950’s, but is now being made more popular in the main stream media by floaters such as Steph Curry and Joe Rogan. Float therapy involves floating in twelve inches of skin temperate water that has been supersaturated with dissolved Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate). The high concentration of salt allows the body to float effortlessly. The main component of float therapy is to isolation all the senses. It can be hard to imagine that floating around in the dark in twelve inches of salt water could provide health benefits, but indeed it does. A float session can be described as “going back into the womb”, to be perfectly cozy, supported, and isolated. Below arethe descriptions of the most useful benefits of float therapy. It was interesting to me how you pointed out that float therapy can be really helpful when it comes to pain relief. My back has been giving me issues lately, but I haven't been able to get any real relief. I definitely wouldn't mind trying float therapy to see if that provides some relief.
