WHAT IS A FLOAT TANK?
A Float Tank or Sensory Deprivation Float Pod, is a light and sound free chamber containing 12 inches of solution containing body temperature water (around 94-95˚) and about 1000 lbs of dissolved Sulfate Magnesium (Epsom Salt). Inside the float tank, the client will float effortlessly in the absence of light, sound, smell and even gravity.
How Big is your float chamber/isolation tank?
The dimensions of our tank is 4’ wide x 8’ long x 7’ high with a large easy access door that is 3' x 5’.
DOES FLOAT THERAPY HAVE ANY OTHER NAMES?
Absolutely! Other names for Float Therapy are Sensory Deprivation Tank, Float Pod, Float Tank, Isolation Tank, Float Room, and Floatation Tank. It is also popularly known as 'Floating'. Has been featured in the popular series Stranger Things and 1980's cult classic Altered States.
DO I TAKE A SHOWER BEFORE ENTERING THE FLOAT TANK?
Yes. Showering before your float eliminates any contaminates that you would bring into the tank. Showering after your float is also suggested to remove the layer of Epsom salt that is left in the hair and on the skin
SHOULD I EAT BEFORE FLOATING?
It is recommended to eat a light meal 2 hours before your float. You do not want to be starving but you dont want to be too full. Avoid caffeine and nicotine prior to your float as it may interfere with your ability to relax and receive max benefits Read more here on how to prepare for your float.
WHAT DO I WEAR WHILE FLOATING?
Absolutely nothing! Anything other than your birthday suit will infer with your experience while floating.
WHAT IF I AM CLAUSTROPHOBIC?
The thought of being enclosed in a dark space can be frightening to some. However, since there is no light in the tank, you can not see the walls therefore eliminating the feeling of being confined or restricted. The tank itself can seem unlimited and vast. You are in complete control of the environment and have the ability to exit the tank at any time.
HOW WILL I FLOAT? WHAT IF I AM NOT CAPABLE OF FLOATING?
There is over 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt dissolved in the water inside the tank. Regardless of your height or weight, you will be able to float effortlessly. As you lay back, the water will settle on the side of you temple, submerging your ears but leaving your eyes, mouth, and nose completely exposed to the air.
WHAT IF I FALL ASLEEP IN THE TANK?
A lot of people fall asleep inside the tank as a result of being completely and totally relaxed. It might be the best nap you ever have!
CAN TWO PEOPLE FLOAT IN ONE TANK AT THE SAME TIME?
No. We only offer private individual experiences.
WILL EPSOM SALT GET IN MY EARS?
Only if you forget to rinse your ears out completely after your float. Earplugs are provided to limit noise as well as salt water getting into the ears.
IS ANYONE UNABLE TO USE THE TANK?
People whom are epileptic or with special conditions should consult their physician before scheduling an appointment.
CAN PREGNANT WOMEN FLOAT?
- Oh Yes! Pregnant women get tremendous amounts of relief from floating. The extra weight carried by the mother can be uncomfortable and stressful. By eliminating gravity and soaking in epsom salt, the mother to be experiences a weightlessness and gets relief from inflammation, joint pain and stress.
